Therapy Center of Philadelphia and Hornstein, Platt and Associates, in partnership with Philadelphia Family Pride, hold two eight-week “Maybe Baby” classes for LGBTQ communities considering parenthood a few times a year.
The groups are being generously sponsored by RMA at Jefferson again this year.Thank you!
The “Maybe Baby” group for queer, lesbian or bi women and transgender communities will meet at Therapy Center of Philadelphia, while queer, gay or bi cisgender or transgender men will meet at the Rittenhouse Square office of Hornstein Platt and Associates. (Trans men are free to choose the group they’d prefer.)
“Maybe Baby” offers an 8-week experience that will provide information from legal, financial, fertility, adoption and medical experts, as well as emotional, social and community support around becoming a parent. Speakers will include Dr. Jackie Gutmann (pictured) from RMA as well as other professionals and current LGBTQ parents. Participants will finish the eight weeks with a sense of their options, how to navigate the process as an LGBTQ person, and connections with those on a similar journey.
The class for GBTQ men will meet at the Rittenhouse Square office of Hornstein, Platt and Associates at 255 S. 17th Street, Suite 1010. This class will be led by Chris Wilson, MFT, MEd, LMFT, CHES. Contact Hornstein, Platt and Associates at 267-507-1310 to sign up. The class is forming now and dates will be set when we have a full group.
Meetings for LBQ women and trans communities will be held weekly on Wednesday nights, 6-7:30pm this spring from April 5th – May 24. They meet at Therapy Center of Philadelphia office at 1315 Walnut Street, 10th floor. The group will be co-facilitated by Sheri-Ann Cowie, PhD and Sylvie Beauvais, LSW, MSW. To sign up for the next set of classes, contact them at 215-567-1111.
Cost for participation for the full 8 weeks is $240/couple ($120/individual) for Philadelphia Family Pride members or $320/couple ($160/individual) for non-PFP members. Those not already PFP members can join for $25/year. There will also be a $45 intake session fee for both groups.
